Adavi Bapiraju is my favourite writer.
More about his writings another time!!
He was a great painter too. His illustrations for the characters in the popular folk songs - Kinnerasani and Yenki Paatalu - breathed life into them. Apart from producing masterpieces on canvas, he kindled interest in art among the common people by delivering lectures on the subject. This had popularised art works among people, says Malladi Krishnanand in his book `Telugu Peddalu'.
Bapi Raju's stories were published in `Ragamalika', `Anjali', `Tarangini', `Bharati' and `Meejan'. He also penned songs for light music programmes some of which were melodiously rendered by the legendary singer, Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. These songs, which used to be broadcast repeatedly over All India Radio, popularised him among the masses.
Damerla Rama Rao
Any mention of Telugu art perhaps would start with this genius.
He is a master painter and I am told his works are languishing in a museum at Rajamundry.
Not much is known to me about him.
