Tandanana of Annamacharya

Sri Mallikarjuna Rao Garu, lovingly called Mallik, was a legend in his life time.
He is one among the pioneers of playback singing in films.
Interestingly he started with Tamil, not his mother tongue.
After a stint in films, he came to Vijayawada All India Radio and continued there.
His light music compositions and renderings are sweet memoroes for people who heard him.

Tandanana Ahi and Adevo Alladivo were two of his masterpieces.
I made him sing just these two songs in a programme.
He travelled all the way to Hyderabad in his late age, to sing the two numbers.

I never met and spoke to him, because I was in too much of awe for him!
There is a song where the lyric says, the fish developed wings and climbed the trees.
Vividh Bharati used to play it!
Anyone has the song "Chepalanni Rekkalochi Chetlekkinai"?
You should listen the song to know Mallik!!
